Why synthetic turf beats natural grass for rooftops.

Rooftop Greenery

Green rooftops have had an impact in cities all over the world. Green rooftops deliver shade, absorb heat from the atmosphere, and reduce the roof surface and the air temperatures surrounding it. These rooftops are a ideal way to expand square footage and support mental health by incorporating a green outdoor retreat in the concrete jungle. By using synthetic, you can open up the possibilities for making a creative space in an otherwise boring area.

Advantages of Artificial Turf Rooftops

Installing artificial turf on a rooftop has numerous benefits. Here are a handful of our personal favorites:

Easy to Clean

Synthetic grass is extremely simple to keep clean and fresh-looking.

Light

In comparison to traditional grass, there is no risk of safety issues or hazards, such as root and water damage.

Supplies Insulation

Protects building interiors from extreme heat and can offer immunity to mold, mildew, or decomposition.

Reduced Maintenance

Synthetic turf will last for a very long time and requires minimal maintenance if installed properly.

Adds Value

Provides a quick getaway while remaining in the concrete jungle.

Safe Space for Pets & Kids

With artificial grass, your pets and kids won’t be exposed to toxic pesticides, weedkillers, and fertilizers.

Create A Unique Look

Artificial turf makes it convenient to put turf where natural grass wouldn’t grow, and you have the ability to make interesting shapes, or even place them on walls if you want to.

Which Fiber Type Should You Use?

There is a lot to weigh when choosing synthetic grass, much less what would be look good on a rooftop. Here are a few important elements to consider when evaluating options:

Nylon is a long-lasting fabric, but outdoor spaces are vulnerable to expansion/contraction and will probably fade.

For indoor areas, we recommend nylon or cases with heavy commercial wear or non-fill areas. All non-infill nylon Shaw products observe strict flammability testing to satisfy building codes.

We recommend an infill PE tape product for a commercial rooftop area.

PE tape provides durability without compromising performance; high grade PE resins are fade-resistant and not vulnerable to expansion and contraction. Our Play-Safe collection delivers premium results for this application.
